Functions and Features

The WSD9 board dynamically grooms wavelengths. In addition to providing for in-service monitoring of optical performance, the WSD9 board supports alarm and performance event monitoring.

Table 1 describes the functions and features of the WSD9 board.

Basic function Dynamically drops wavelengths on ring or chain networks. This board can route any single wavelength or any wavelength combination to any port, achieving dynamic wavelength allocation.

    Supports signals with a 100 GHz channel spacing.

      The signals have continuous n x slice GHz spectrums (one slice is equal to 50 GHz, and n is an integer ranging from 1 to 8) to meet the bandwidth requirements of high-rate services. When multi-rate services are transmitted together, Gridless flexibly allocates bandwidth to improve the bandwidth utilization efficiency.

    • Supports extended C band.
    • Supports flexible grid wavelength signals.

      The signals have continuous n x slice GHz spectrums (one slice is equal to 12.5 GHz, and n = 3 to 32) to meet the bandwidth requirements of high-rate services. Gridless flexibly allocates bandwidth to improve the bandwidth utilization efficiency.

In-service optical performance monitoring

Provides two in-service monitoring ports. Each of these two ports connects to an optical spectrum analyzer or spectrum analyzer unit to monitor the signal power performance without affecting traffic.

Alarm and performance event monitoring

Detects the optical power and reports the alarms and performance events for the board.

Optical power adjustment Supports power adjustment for each wavelength.
